King Home Backup Sync is a small, private program that runs on its owner's own home server and makes a local copy of files that already belong to him. Once a day it signs in to his personal Google Drive account with his permission, reads a backup file that another app of his has placed there, downloads that one file, and stores it on hardware in his home. It is used by exactly one person — the person who wrote it and who owns the account it reads. There is no sign-up, no other users, no website to log in to and no service offered to anybody else.
What it does with Google data
It reads. It lists the files in one folder of the owner's own Google Drive, picks the newest backup file, and downloads a copy. It does not create, modify, share or delete anything in Drive, and it never touches any other Google service. The copy it downloads is stored on the owner's own server and is not transmitted anywhere else.
Why it exists
The owner keeps his own records — training logs, personal documents — in apps that back themselves up to Google Drive. This program brings those backups home, so that the data continues to exist on hardware he controls rather than only in somebody else's cloud. It is the boring, useful half of owning your own data.
Who runs it
Christopher King, a private individual in South Africa. This is not a company and not a commercial product. Nothing here is sold, and there is nothing to buy.
Privacy
The full privacy policy — what Google data is accessed, how it is used, where it is stored and who else can see it — is on the privacy policy page. The short answer is that no third party's data is involved at any point, and nothing is shared with anyone.
